The IAEA Information System on Occupational Exposure in Medicine, Industry and Research (ISEMIR) enables data collection to help improve optimization of radiation protection of workers in interventional cardiology (ISEMIR-IC), industrial radiography (ISEMIR-IR) and naturally occurring radioactive materials (ISEMIR-N).
Information System on Occupational Exposure in Medicine, Industry and Research (ISEMIR)
Managers, radiation protection officers and occupationally exposed workers at non-destructive testing companies carrying out industrial radiography and medical facilities performing interventional procedures can register to participate in the system.
Participants share anonymous information about company-wide or individual doses, radiation practices, habits and incidents. Users can compare their occupational exposure data with global and regional data. The ISEMIR system aims to reduce the risk for accidents by highlighting factors such as insufficient training.
Data entered in ISEMIR also enables the IAEA to identify gaps and define follow-up actions, and to disseminate lessons learned.
